Why do we send Christmas cards?
Sending Christmas cards begins in the UK in 1843. Before this time, people often send their own Merry Christmas notes, which is also done to give birth and have a happy new year.
Mr. Henry Cole is a busy man and doesn't have time to write a personal message for Christmas in 1843, although he doesn't want to not send any.
So he hired an artist named John Calnott Horsley and took him to design a card that could be sent immediately.
First Christmas card
The first Christmas card created has handed pictures of adults and children raise their wine glasses in a toast.
It also has some religious symbols about it, for example, the branches of Holly represent purity, while ivy represents the places where God has gone.

There are one thousand cards printed and only sold in a few stores in London, only one of the original cards still exist today.
There are two reasons for the original popularity of Christmas cards.
Customization may have caught because greetings can be sent through a penny every year in 1843, London.
Other reasons are attributed to a scandal with Horsley's design.
A family, surrounded by religious symbols, keeping a glass of wine, offended some.
So actually we send Christmas cards because it is better to write only personal notes for everyone.
