7 most expensive foods in the world
Now that we all love food, I don't get it wrong, and who can beat a delicious meal in a more luxurious restaurant?
But paying over $ 600 for a burger, or $ 150 for a pizza seems ridiculous - though if you have the money, why not!
Here, we will look at some of the most expensive foods in the world, obviously this section does not list every food but I have picked some of the world's favorites and the popular ones.
So let's get started!
Wagyu beef
Wagyu beef is the most expensive beef in the world, costs around $ 275 per lb for meat alone and 2,000 classic cote de boeuf, or rib steak, costs $ 3200.
Why is it too expensive?
The Wagyu beef itself must come from a special Japanese breed with a marble pattern that's extremely high in fat, allowing the meat to melt in your mouth.
However, there are budget versions that offer Wagyu beef sandwiches for $ 4.40 for a pack of 2.
Civet coffee
Coffee civet or Kopi Luwak is a coffee extracted from coffee berries that have passed through the digestive system of the civet palm civet and a quick search costs around $ 75 per 9-ounce pack.
Cats eat cherries for the fleshy portion, and as the pea moves through its digestive system, enzymes are absorbed into the pea, transforming them.
After being harvested, thoroughly washed, sun-dried, roasted and brewed, these beans have a distinct flavor and are much less bitter.
Saffron seasoning
Saffron holds the title of being the most expensive condiment, for example the Spanish Saffron which costs around $ 300 an ounce at Walmart.
Saffron is derived from the saffron plant, this flower has up to 4 flowers with each flower having 3 vivid crimson spouts, which are hand selected, dried and then sealed.
A pound is equivalent to 80,000 flowers or a brother, so use it a savings way.
Truffles & Mushrooms
Truffles are one of the most expensive ingredients in the world, with white being more expensive than black varieties.
Truffles are highly appreciated in society and extremely delicious, but in many people's opinion, its price is like a status symbol with white truffles that cost up to 1,400 USD / pound.
Take Perigord, for example, a black truffles that costs $ 1.47 - and it's 0.03 ounces long!
Matsasuke, a Japanese prized answer to black truffles, holds the title of world's most expensive mushroom, at around $ 1,000 a pound.
Belugan caviar
The most expensive of all the world's most expensive caviar and food is "ALMAS" or Caviar Belugan comes from Beluga Iranian fish - a kidon fish.
One kilogram (2.2lbs) of "black gold" sells for more than $ 28,850.
Juicy's Outlaw Grill hamburger
The world's most expensive hamburger is expensive not because of its ingredients, but because of its size.
The burger sells for $ 5,000 and is produced by Juicy's Foods and Ovations Food for Juicy's Outlaw Grill, USA.
This is a giant burger weighing 777lbs.
The most expensive regular size burger, when discounting what you have to buy with expensive drinks, etc., will be the Honky Tonk burger in Glamburger, London, UK.
The burger costs around £ 1200 ($ 1500) and includes a piece of Kobe and Wagyu garnished with gold leaf, with lobster, caviar, venison, a duck egg and black truffles.
Chocopologie
The most expensive chocolate recipe comes from Knipschildt, a Danish chocolate maker.
A chocopologie is a $ 250 dark chocolate truffles filled with black truffles.
It is made from 70% Valrhona cocoa combined with truffle oil to form ganache and is hand-rolled before being coated with cocoa powder.
However, in terms of simple chocolate, To’ak won.
To'ak means land and trees in the Ecuadorian dialect and costs around $ 260 per bar, according to To'ak, as it's made from 5% cocoa labeled as 'premium' while chocolate
For that price, you'd expect it to be the size of a baseball bat but no, the bar weighs just 1.5 ounces with 7-8mm cocoa beans in the middle and for flavor you have to use wooden tongs to eat it.
It takes 36 steps to produce and 81% by volume of cocoa and 19% of sugar, and that's it.
So we have it, there are really a lot of ways to spend a fortune and it doesn't have to be a $ 100,000 watch or supercar, it could be a pound of meat or mushrooms and why not.
Having said that, some of these sound unbelievably delicious.
If you love these facts, check out some other foods, which actually have an insanely priced version of almost any food, such as a worth 1 worth of diamond encrusted fruit cake,
The problem with foods like fruit cakes that I just mentioned is that they require "extras" to make them so expensive, things like diamonds and gold.
That's why I don't include them in the above list, it only contains pure product because who really wants to eat gold?
I don't and I'm sure you agree!
