Since 1985, the UK has been celebrating something called Red Nose Day every 2 years.

Red Nose Day is a day to raise money for a charity called Comic Relief and a day to bring a big red nose!

It has become an important day for people in the UK to come together, have fun and raise money for charity.

Here are 30 facts about Red Nose Day so you will know why it exists.

In 1985, Richard Curtis, Jane Tewson and friends came up with the idea of using comedy to raise money for charity, specifically to help change lives in Africa and the UK.

On Christmas Day 1985, "Comic Relief" was released;

The idea behind Red Nose Day is there is a day of the year when people do something silly or funny to raise money for Comic Relief, a nonprofit.

1988 marked the year of the first Red Nose Day, with more than 150 celebrities and comedians participating, 30 million spectators, and a total of $ 19 million (£ 15 million) raised.

This is also the time when the concept of "Red Nose" was born and the first year the Red Nose became the symbol and title of this day.
