Top Tank's surprising history
When the summer months come to us, one of the most popular items in many people's wardrobes is a tank top.

The inclusion of women's swimming in the Olympic Games appeared in 1912, held in Stockholm, Sweden.
A total of 27 women competed in swimming events at these specific games, and their swimwear was considered "unassuming" by many news outlets and audiences.
The outfit they wear is very similar to modern tank tops, but has an extra section like shorts to cover the top half of the thighs.
Although we may call it a "swimming pool" today, in the 1920s it was called a "swimming pool".

Until now, films like Footloose, Die Hard and Con Air, featuring A-list actors like Kevin Bacon, Bruce Willis and Nicholas Cage wore tank tops, bringing the item further into culture.

Today, tank tops can be seen in a variety of styles and colors, and are often worn to the gym, to the beach or simply to the stores in the warm sun.
