The history of ASOS
In 1999, two casual British men who had ideas to start a fashion business copied the prevailing styles and designs of celebrities.
By 2001, their official website was www.asos.co.uk, and the AsSeenOnScreen name had grown up and really disappeared.
Around the same time, the business was admitted to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market) on the London Stock Exchange, meaning the stock could now be floated.
Soon, ASOS expanded and began selling products that were not necessarily visible on screens.
Over the years, ASOS began to grow outside of the UK, supplying its products to customers in other countries around the world.
As the company is growing to become a worldwide favorite in the fashion world, ASOS needs to open offices in the UK outside London and the South West.
ASOS chose to promote itself further by sponsoring the Formula One McLaren team during the 2014 Formula One season. While it was initially speculated that the sponsorship was only temporary, it dragged on.
ASOS's main warehouse is located in Barnsley, UK and was expanded in 2014 to accommodate 20 million units.
