The fastest moving vehicle in the world
Since the time when internal combustion engines were first used to power vehicles of the Industrial Revolution, we've always pushed to go faster, more efficient and save money.
Former driver Mario Andretti summed up the adventure and love for speed we all face. "If everything seems under control, you won't go fast enough."
As a former mechanic and a self-confessed lover of anything powered by a motor, this list would be very interesting.
Here, we will look at the 5 fastest means of transportation in the world, one from each of the major modes of transportation.
What is the fastest car in the world?
There has been quite a bit of controversy over which car actually holds the title of "world's fastest production car".
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, as of 2013, this record belonged to the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super sport after reaching a maximum speed of 431,072km / h (267,856mph).
The point is that in 2014, the Hennessey Venom GT hit 435.31 km / h (270.49 mph), which is of course faster than the Veyron and will certainly give Venom the title.
But the argument is in the way of measuring maximum speed.
Bugatti's speed is measured after two runs, each running in the direction and then they are averaged to give its number but the Venom is measured by one run in one direction making it less reliable.
Worse still, there is a third opponent, Koenigsegg One: 1.
The only good news for the Bugatti is that the 1: 1 ratio really focuses on acceleration rather than speed.
Really good, the one: 1 has a theoretical top speed of 273mph (just over 439 km / h).
What is the fastest motorcycle in the world?
null
Motorbikes are even more difficult to identify than cars because most motorcycles have an unwritten maximum speed agreement.
All bikes are limited to 186mph (299 km / h), which seems like a very plausible idea.
The remaining issue is whether we talk about the legality of the road or not.
As I mentioned earlier, this list focuses on production vehicles only but there will be a few more mentions of non-production or racing cars, so why not start here!
The Dodge Tomahawk is considered the fastest motorcycle in the world but is not a production vehicle.
Theoretically, this dodge, due to this illegal situation, reached a top speed of about 400mph (about 645 km / h).
The real winner of the world's fastest motorcycle appears to be Suzuki Hayabusa with some reports that it can reach speeds of 248mph (399 km / h).
This top speed is unimaginable, especially if you are the one riding the monster when it reaches that number.
What is the fastest train in the world?
When it comes to trains, there is actually quite a big difference between an engine-powered train and a more conceptual train, here we'll look at both.
The highest speed recorded on any national railway system, rather than a test track, was on April 3, 2007. It was carried out by a modified French SNCF version named V150.
The train reaches 574.8 km / h (357.2 mph), requiring larger wheels and two two-deck three-car driving engines.
Now when we talk about the world's fastest train, the winner has to be Maglev.
This Japanese magnetic airship, achieved a top speed of 603 km / h (374.69mph) while being operated by the Japan Central Railway on a test track in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo.
The previous record was also set by itself just a few days before running this manned test.
Ordinary trains cannot reach these speeds because the Maglev does not need wheels, axles or bearings.
JR Central is said to be developing the Maglev rails to connect Tokyo and Nagoya in 40 minutes by 2027, a distance of more than 300km.
What is the fastest plane in the world?
Although not a production vehicle, the maximum speed ever achieved by a manned aircraft was not a spacecraft built by the North American Aviation X-15A-2.
In an all-pink coating and white sealant to protect the ship from extreme temperatures, it reached a speed of 7,270 km / h (4,520 mph) on October 3, 1967 over the Mojave Desert, USA.
The plane was dropped off a NB-52 at an altitude of 10,600 m (35,000 ft) and accomplished this astonishing feat.
This record is an unofficial human speed record and until the Space Shuttle appeared it was not broken.
When it comes to commercial jets, the Boeing 747 is the winner.
Due to the large fuel consumption that occurs when flying a Boeing at this speed, this rarely happens.
What is the fastest boat in the world?
As with all forms of transportation, the difference between the race and the regular daily versions is of course quite large.
The official world water speed record was set by Ken Warby on October 8, 1978 after reaching 275.97 knots (511.11 km / h, or 317.58 miles / h) on the lake.
Again, what is classified as the fastest of a field depends on the classification you are using.
With a number of 100 boats and a price of 1.85 million dollars (1.3 million pounds), this 800 horsepower racing boat can reach speeds of more than 161 km / h (100mph) and monolithic hull.
The boats were launched in Lymington, UK in December 2006.
Whatever the mode of transportation, whether it's land or air, there's a lot to discuss and learn.
From Bugatti to Boeing, if you're a thrill addict, there are literally countless ways to achieve success.
Each year, newer and newer vehicles are released, pushing the boundaries of what we know, with older versions slowly reaching the public.
My car has a top speed of more than 225km / h (140 miles / hour), something unprecedented a few decades ago, let alone 320km / h (200mph).
However, the risk of injury is of course the flip side of the coin, and as these modes of transportation become faster, lighter, and more generally more impressive, we all have to remember our responsibility to
