Moon Landing Hoax - 5 popular legends revealed

Whenever people achieve the next unbelievable feat, there are people who actively try to deny that it actually happened.

These conspiracy theorists, no matter how crazy, are always looking for some little or unreasonable reason behind their stellar performance to validate their claims.

Humans, or more specifically the United States, first set foot on the surface of the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.

This happened on July 20, 1969;

However, this fact is not outside of the conspiracy rules.

Here, we will look at 5 common myths that conspiracy theorists use to deny that the moon landing actually happened.

The astronauts' footprints are too clear.

One of the main theories that dispute the success of the lunar landings is that the astronauts' famous markings on the moon are too obvious for them to make on a completely dry world.

In order for prints to be identified as such, they must be made of a substance like wet sand but this is completely pointless.

Moon dust, or regolith, is a finely ground powder similar in appearance to volcanic ash.

When a foot, or any object is pressed against this substance, it compresses very easily into the shape of the object, such as a boot.

Due to the airless vacuum of the moon, the created shapes can remain pristine for a long time.

The balls are heading in different directions.

Another major area of contention is that it appears that there are multiple sources of light in the images that cause shadows in different directions.

But how could this happen when the Sun is the only thing that is definitely capable of producing enough light on the moon?

They believe that the other light sources are caused by the lighting capabilities of the studio.

Roger Launius, a space historian, explains the real reason behind many clear sources:

"You've got the sun, the Earth's reflected light, the light reflected from the lunar module, the cosmic set, and the lunar surface."

However, the main reason is, as we all know, the surface of the moon is anything but flat and if there is something in the immersion zone or jutting out onto a hill.

Of course, another shadow will be created when compared to something next to it on a flat, higher or lower surface.

There is no impact pit.

"But the plane has no impact crater underneath it" they shouted!

Yes, the photos of the lunar lander actually show that the ship has no visible craters underneath it, but there is a reason for this.

The lunar lander's engines were recalibrated before landing and it didn't move long enough to form craters or take off a lot of dust, that's all.

Launius, again holding the top flag of reason, said, "Sci-fi film depicts this massive spark launching like a land of spaceships, but that's not how they do it on the moon"

NASA supports this theory, saying that landers will need much less thrust than they would on Earth.

Also, the surface of the moon is solid rock covered with the previously mentioned substance called regolith, so a really formed crater, digging deep below the ground, would need a very strong force.

It's like how an airplane doesn't leave a huge crater on a concrete runway when it hits it.

Where are all the stars in the picture?

Conspiracy theorists point to the understandable fact that there are no stars in pictures taken from the moon.

NASA you silly people, you forgot to turn on the wall of light covered in satin how dare you!

The real reason is much simpler.

It is difficult to capture something very bright and something very fuzzy on the same film - typical emulsions do not have enough "dynamic range".

Astronauts wandering the bright moon in their sunny space suits quite literally dazzling.

Placing a camera with the right exposure for these conditions will naturally make the background stars too blurry to be seen, because you know that the space suits that roam the moon are of the kind.

Most photographers can attest to this.

The flag was fluttering in the wind.

One of the main claims made by those who did not believe in the Apollo 11 landing was that the American flag was seen 'flying' over the surface of the Moon.

Indeed not, since there is no wind on the moon !?

No, they're right, of course there's no air on the moon or very little gravity, but there's momentum and inertia.

The flag is made of nylon, for a stiffer and more stable design.

It is mounted on a telescopic flagpole with an extra column protruding from the front.

The flag is slid up through a border stitched onto the flag itself, giving the illusion that it is square and flying.

The fabric of the flag has been moved around when placed in place.

When the astronauts were planting the flagpoles, they turned around to dig into the lunar soil so of course the flag waved!

Flipping any coiled cloth with a stored momentum will produce waves, ripples, and movement, and without a gentle breeze, it won't stop immediately.

When Neil Armstrong uttered those famous words, “Houston, quiet base.

Capsule Commander Charles Duke summarized the sheer effort and prediction those involved were feeling, after receiving the message he said:

“Roger, Twank… Tranquility, we copy you on the ground.

In short

Don't get me wrong, of course everyone has the right to give their own opinion, whether it be the existence of aliens in Area-51 or this amazing reality of yours.

I understand but please do your research, use reputable sources!
