Amazing facts about 5 Marvel games

When it comes to gamers, there's certainly a strong correlation between love of playing anything and love of comics, especially Superheroes and anti-heroes.

Here, we'll take a look at some cool and downright bizarre facts about heroes from the Marvel world appearing in their own series of games.

This is not a comprehensive list of course, but here are my personal favorites and / or team favorites.

There are also a variety of games for both adults and kids, neither video nor expensive, from board and card games to free online games like slot machines and games.

So, without further ado, get started!

Fantastic Four

Like many other Marvel characters, one of the first Fantastic Four characters, if not the first video game, was in QuestProbe # 3 The Fantastic Four.

This game was created by Atari and is an 8-bit game.

One of the more basic and interesting games, is Zen Studios Pinball FX 2;

The Human Torch, arguably the most memorable of the 4, appears in a mini-game in all versions of Ultimate Spider-Man except Game Boy Advance, in this mini game players will race against the Flame

Hulk

The Hulk is one of the more underrepresented characters in the Marvel universe when it comes to video games.

Adventure International's 1984 Questprobe was the Hulk's first video game;

The Hulk game is a bit of a variation on the other Hulk games, this version is based on the 2003 movie and not the comic.

John Cena voiced the teen version of Hulk in Marvel Avengers Academy.

In the 2008 game The Incredible Hulk, players can be played as Hulks's lesser known substitute;

Spiderman

Now when we talk about the advent of video games for Marvel characters, we have to discuss the spiderman-like gentleman we all know and love.

The first Spider-Man video game seems to be the first magical superhero based game too, Spider-man 2600 as the name suggests was designed and built for the Atari 2600 platform.

Characters roam on a seemingly repetitive and simple wall in each level, solving villains and problems as they unfold, requiring alert imagination.

The best Spider-Man game is often referred to as ‘Spider-Man’ from 2000 and “What if… what?”

It allows players to embark on Spider-Man's adventures through New York City, with Stan Lee the great voice-over, fighting Scorpion, Rhino and Venom among others.

In this game, the Neversoft creators also worked on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 and injected lots of Easter Eggs into both games.

In Spider-Man, THPS2 was advertised on billboards and on television at J. Jonah Jameson's office.

When you're 100% complete with a character created in Tony Hawk, Spider-Man is unlocked as an option.

X Men

Now when it comes to X-men games, there are some really good games and some bad games.

X-Men Arcade released in 1992 is known as one of the best.

The great spins at Konami have succeeded again with this simple up to 6 player X-Men combat concept.

X-Men vs.

The PS1 version is quite bad compared to the Saturn and arcade versions, due to the game's poor memory, the tag-team (and commonly known as the funniest part) of the game had to be ignored.

I consider myself a Marvel fan and I've never even heard of Tusk, the main boss in X-men 2: Clone Wars.

Tusk is a character that creates miniature versions of himself to do his dirty work.

Who punished

The first punishment game appears to be the 1990 version of NES, a third-person game where the character fights his way through the city before taking on Kingpin.

In 1991, this anonymous gem was transferred to the Game Boy and strangely, during this move, the boss changed to Jigsaw.

While not technically The Punisher game, the Punisher voiced by Robin Atkin Downes is an unlockable character in the Lego Marvel Super Heroes game.

In 1990, MicroProse released a DOS version of the Punisher, which had three different modes;

As I said, this is not a comprehensive list of those great hero games and combinations but these are my favorites.

But I'm sure there will be another superhero story coming to the big screen soon and a new magic game will be released be it gambit or Captain America and his avengers.
