Coldplay is a British rock band, they were formed in 1996, in London.

The band consisted of lead vocalist Chris Martin, bassist Guy Berryman, guitarist Johnny Buckland and drummer Will Champion.

Martin and Buckland formed the band when they met at University College London (also known as UCL).

Initially they were called Pectoralz, however in 1997 they changed their name to Starfish.

Champion had no previous experience playing drums when he joined the band, now named Coldplay.
