Every fan of the Big Bang Theory, zealously or otherwise, will know who is the fierce but sweet microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz.

But actress Melissa Rauch's life is much more than simply Big Bang.

As a Jersey-born girl, she quickly discovered she had a natural talent for making people laugh and a passion for performing, which pushed her down the path that led her to almost all.

Here are facts about the life and career of Melissa Rauch.

Melissa Rauch was born in Marlboro Town in New Jersey.

She is 40 years old and born on June 23, 1980.

Although she started Big Bang's career as a recurring supporting character in Season 3, she became a member of the main cast, appearing in 89 episodes from Season 4 to date.

In an interview with Maxim as part of the photo shoot she did for them (more on that later), Melissa told them that, just as Bernadette did in the early episodes of The

Melissa knew from an early age that she wanted to perform, or as she said to herself, "I was a high school playwright and did all the plays".

Before applying for the role of Bernadette, Melissa was a huge fan of Big Bang.

Big Bang is also one of her father's favorite shows and she also said, "There aren't a lot of things that he loves, and it's a show he loves so much."

She is married to writer Winston Rauch, whom she met in college, and they have collaborated on several projects together.

Melissa joined a women's program called The Miss Education of Jenna Bush, which she collaborated with her husband, Winston.

She also teamed up with her husband on a movie called The Bronze, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2015. In The Bronze, Melissa plays a former drug addict bronze gymnast.

Melissa had a small, 6-episode, recurring role on HBO's vampire hit True Blood as the character Summer, a girl who has a short relationship with Hoyt.

She was always able to make people laugh.

So it should come as no surprise that she has taken to the stage in college, doing some independent comedy shows at clubs and small bars in New York City.

When asked about her preference for men, she said: “I really love a funny guy.

She has previously said that the voice she uses in The Big Bang Theory is based on her mother's voice.

She also revealed that her father spoke a lot like Howard Wolowitz's mother, with a "very low and husky" voice.

As mentioned briefly earlier, Melissa did an impressive S&M-inspired shoot for Maxim magazine in 2013, where she wore a very dashing black corset, not to mention one.

Three of her biggest favorites are arc games, boardwalk games like you see at festivals, and rollercoasters.

As a child, Melissa's favorite superhero was Wonder Woman.
